Tuition is based upon a total year’s tuition divided into monthly payments. At the Sedalia studio the fall term has 15 classes and the spring term 20 classes for a total year of 35 classes. In Warrensburg the fall term has 17 classes and the spring term 20 for a total year of 37 classes. ATTENDANCE POLICY

Performing requires discipline and dedication. It is an art form and should be respected as such.

To truly benefit from dancing instruction, attendance is essential. Roll is taken each class period so please notify the studio when absences are necessary. In case of inclement weather, please listen to local radio stations, check the website, or call the studio phone (747-6133) for Center Stage closings. No deduction or refunds will be given for student absences. However, missed classes due to illness or other circumstances may be made up in a comparable class approved by the teacher. Students missing more than 3 classes in the spring semester will not be allowed to participate in the recital unless private lessons (at the rate of $20 per half hour) are arranged with the instructor. This is to ensure that everyone is prepared for the spring performance. Back to top.

CLASS CHANGES/WITHDRAWALS

All class changes must be handled through the front desk and approved by the teacher. If you decide to withdrawal completely from Center Stage, a withdrawal form must be submitted to the front desk 5 days prior to the 1st of the month or else your account will continue to be automatically charged. If a withdrawal form is not received, charges will continue to the end of the session (May) and you will be fully liable for all tuition and costume fees. Center Stage does not refund tuition or costume payments, however; credit may be applied to tuition for another class for the same student. No withdrawals will be accepted after April 1, 2009.

CLASS ATTIRE

Dancewear and appropriate shoes are required in all dance classes.

Ballet: Solid-colored leotard with pink or black tights.
Tap/Jazz: Leotards with tights, or jazz pants and tight fitting tank tops. NO JEANS OR PAJAMA BOTTOMS
Pre-School: Any leotard and tights. (May have an attached skirt or tutu.)
Theatre: Clothing that allows ease of movement and lightweight tennis shoes. No sandals.

Hair must be pulled up and out of the face. Clearly label all belongings with the student's name. NO GUM IN CLASS.

We have a very liberal dress code, as we feel bright colors and fun attire promote self-expression and encourage enthusiasm. However, body placement and alignment are impossible to correct in baggy clothing, therefore, they are not allowed. Tan and Pink tights are not allowed over leotards.

RECOMMENDED DANCE SHOES

Great consideration has been taken into finding the best shoe at the most affordable price for each class. All of the shoes listed below are available for purchase at Center Stage.

Dance shoes that are not on the recommended list are fine for class time but may be required for performance in upper-level classes. (Please wait to purchase recommended dance shoes until you’ve outgrown your current pair.)

STREET SHOES ARE NEVER ALLOWED IN THE DANCE STUDIOS.

STAYING INFORMED

It is important that parents are aware of what is happening in their child’s class. Center Stage publishes a bi-monthly newsletter to be distributed on the first full week of the month. This newsletter contains important information on studio closings, performances, etc. Please be sure to ask your child for the newsletter. Our newsletter can also be found online by clicking on "newsletter" from the CURRENT STUDENT menu, or click here to view. Back to top.

CLASS VIEWING

Parents and siblings are asked to wait in our lobby. Exceptions are made to this policy in the first month of the year. You are encouraged, however, to watch through our viewing window in the lobby. This year we’ll be having scheduled parent watch weeks on: December 15-20 and March 30-April 4

Classes will be conducted as usual during Parent Watch Weeks, so please be courteous of the students and other observers by turning off all cell phones and limiting conversation only to the lobby. Thank you!

PERFORMANCES

Performing is not only fun, but also provides opportunities in growth and development for the dancer, musician, and actor. All dance and theatre students will perform in our annual dance recital at the end of May! This is when our students get to showcase the skills they have learned and practiced during the year. Costumes for recital will be ordered in December. All dance students will be required to purchase a costume for each class in which they are enrolled. Musical Theatre students will not order costumes but may be required to purchase a t-shirt or some other performance items. Instrumental music students will be showcased in 2 separate recitals throughout the year.

2008 - 2009 COSTUME FEES

Pre-Combo Classes $50
1/2 hour classes and Pointe $50
All other classes $60

Please note: This does not include the price of tights or shoes.

Costume Fees are broken into 2 payments. A deposit (one-half of your total costume fee) is due by October 1st and will be added to your automatic debit/charge that month. The balance will be deducted on November 1st along with your monthly tuition. Costume fees are non-refundable past December 6, 2008. Extra shipping charges of $10 per costume will be added to the costume fee if a costume is ordered late. Once a costume is ordered, you will be responsible for the costume balance even if your child withdrawals from class. Alternate costume payments may be arranged at the front desk but all costume fees are due by December 20, 2008.

EXPERIENCED TRANSFER STUDENTS

We welcome all students with or without previous experience and look forward to working with you. In order to facilitate a smooth transition between teaching and dancing styles, Center Stage's policy states that all teenage students with significant experience will be placed in a predetermined level of classes. (Ballet 4 OPEN, Ballet 6 OPEN, Jazz 4 OPEN, or Tap 4 OPEN) Student's permanent placement will be determined within four weeks. Back to top.
