Application/Selection process for student employees:

- They must write a letter explaining their interest in the program
- Center Stage Faculty will review the applications and select those students they feel will be most successful in the program.
Program Structure:
Students may be asked to work in one or more of the following positions.
- In their first year, most students will assist before and during class hours at the desk and around the studio (some students will be needed at 3:00 PM). In this first year they will learn how the studio works from an “employee perspective.”
- They will help with general cleaning of the studio prior to student arrival.
- They will help design and decorate the boards.
- They will help with tasks in the office and the store.
- Other duties may include assisting with measurements for costumes, assisting with recital photo days, selling tickets to studio musicals and recital, helping to distribute handouts to parents.
- Some students may be placed as demonstrators for intermediate level dance classes.
- They will attend classes to which they are assigned every week; if they will be unable to attend their class they must notify the teacher or studio in advance and find a substitute if needed.
- They will learn the combinations along with the class and perform the steps in front of the class while they practice; this is to allow the teacher to watch and assist individual students more easily.
- If the class is working in groups the demonstrator will dance with all groups as much as possible.
- Some students may be asked to be student assistants for preschool and beginning level classes.
- They will attend the classes to which they are assigned every week; if they are unable to attend their class they must notify the teacher or studio in advance.
- They will assist through demonstration and one on one work with the students.
- They will be expected to help with corrections for students when they see problems.
- They will work with the instructor on discipline for the class.
- Periodically, they may be expected to choreograph and teach sections of the class under the instructor’s supervision.
All student employees must attend a training session on Saturday, August 25, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In this session their duties and assignments will be covered in more detail. Other topics to be covered: dress code, recording of hours, and attendance. Students will also be given specific training for their positions.
Reimbursement:
The student employee program is meant to be a scholarship and educational program. Students will work in exchange for a reduction in their monthly tuition. Tuition will be reduced at the rate of $5.00 per hour worked. If a student employee misses a class or shift for which they are assigned, they will not receive reimbursement for those hours. Each student will be in charge of recording their hours on their time sheet and having them approved by their supervisor.
