It is our goal at Center Stage to provide our students with the most professional, positive performance opportunities possible. In the spring of 2009 we will be embarking on a new recital concept. It’s been a long time dream of ours to create a Broadway-style show that highlights each students’ talents while providing a thoroughly entertaining experience for all audiences. With this in mind we are developing a story line that brings the history of America to life. Rather than simply a “patriotic” dance recital we’re striving to illustrate the roots from which we came through narration and dance. We’ll begin our journey even before our nation was formed with our Native American roots, progressing throughout history to present times, highlighting those events and traditions that truly make us “American.” Performers will get the chance to present this show twice, allowing each student to gain experience that only comes from a live audience. After all the hard work and necessary dedication to rehearsal time it will be wonderful to share our story more than once. This type of production takes a great deal of dedication and teamwork from everyone involved along with the knowledge that no dancer, actor, or technician is more important than the rest. We’re not just developing a recital, but an experience that will touch our audiences.
For our preschool performers, our celebration of American spirit will continue with a matinee performance on Saturday, May 30, also to include selections from our Company dancers, soloists and duets.
While the coordination effort is very great for this kind of endeavor we know, with your support, this will be our best show yet! Please check back periodically for up-to-date production information.
